Enabling Older People to Flourish
Aging is seen differently today from our parent’s generation yet much of the focus is still on financial preparedness, functional ability and health. While these things are important, we have a real opportunity to redefine what it means to grow old.
Our emotional well-being plays a big role in our overall health and longevity. Having a positive mindset, making time to do the things we love, nurturing our friendships, helping others, making progress with what matters and living with vitality – all contribute to a positive transition and flourishing as we age.
Flourishing is a state of wellbeing – it’s not a trait or characteristic, it’s not something that you either have or don’t have.
The Flourishing Protocol which is based on the work of Professor Martin Seligman and his colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania forms the basis of our work. Flourishing arises from functioning well across all six domains in the Flourishing Protocol.
